I had a very negative experience with JRS auto. I brought my vehicle in for a state inspection and also needed a taillight repaired. My car failed the state inspection for suspension issues, and the shop was unable to provide me with an estimate before I left that day. I had to follow up 2 business days later because I still had not received a quote for repairs. When I did receive the quote, the parts needed for the “necessary” repairs were upcharged, in some cases up to 50%, what another shop would charge (more on that below). My car is over 10 years old, so I wasn’t surprised that I might need some repairs, but I was shocked by the extent and pricing at which I was quoted in order to pass the inspection.
I ended up taking my vehicle to another shop for repairs, which was much cheaper. Before I took my vehicle into another shop, I realized that the taillight that JRS “repaired” was not done correctly - my light was flickering and not consistently turning on. The new shop found wiring issues with my taillight, which again had just been replaced by JRS the week prior. This new shop also passed my vehicle for inspection without needing to replace certain suspension parts, which this shop explained did NOT fail inspection per Maryland standards. From my perspective, I echo another reviewer, that JRS are parts changers and not true mechanics. I felt misled for a quote for repairs that turned out I didn’t even need to pass state inspection. I will not be bringing my vehicle back here, given that the one repair JRS completed (the taillight) was done incorrectly, and I do not trust their assessment of my vehicle, which has had no suspension issues since the more minimal repairs were completed by an honest shop.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your experience.
At JRS Auto Repair, we take Maryland state inspections seriously and follow the Maryland inspection guidelines as we understand and interpret them at the time of inspection. Different repair facilities may have different approaches or recommendations regarding repairs, especially on older vehicles, but our goal is always to prioritize safety and compliance.
Regarding the taillight concern, we sincerely apologize that you experienced an issue afterward. Electrical and wiring problems can sometimes involve underlying conditions that may not be immediately visible during an initial repair, but we always encourage customers to contact us directly if there is any concern so we have the opportunity to recheck the repair and make things right.
As for pricing, our estimates reflect the quality of parts, labor, warranty considerations, and the time involved in properly diagnosing and repairing vehicles. We understand that customers may choose different repair options or shops based on their preferences and budget.
We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue improving our communication and service process. We wish you the best moving forward and are glad your vehicle was repaired.
